‘APEL WINERY – A TRADITIONAL REGIONAL WINERY ON ITS WAY TO BECOMING ONE OF GERMANY'S TOP WINERIES’
The Apel family has been involved in winegrowing since 1477 and has lived in Nittel for just as long. While the great-grandfather was still mainly active as a wine merchant, Hubertus, Matthias and his wife Elfriede drove wine production forward. In 1988, the two sons Harald and Hubert took over the business, which they built up into one of the most modern wineries on the Moselle over more than 30 years of collaboration. In 2016, the fourth generation followed in the form of brothers Philip, Johannes and Matthias. Their credo:
"A good wine requires passion, attention to detail and time. For example, when transporting the grapes, through gentle, long pressing at low pressure, pre-clarification through natural settling and slow fermentation with our own yeasts. We accompany our wines with great care and always work according to the basic principle of "controlled idleness". We may not win any speed competitions, but we offer our customers the highest quality year after year."
Christian Löw from the wine retailer LöwWeine in Göttelborn and winemaker Philip Apel want you to make some special and exciting discoveries at this wine evening. Christian Löw, certified oenologist and wine retailer of the year 2018, will introduce you to this fine historical variety of grape varieties with his popular simultaneous tasting.
Look forward to an exciting and enjoyable evening with Christian Löw and our dedicated Schloss Saareck team in service and kitchen.
